The editor

The editor

/opencreator puts you in a freecam and opens the editor panel. Your ped stays where it was — you are looking through a camera, not walking around.

Two input modes

The editor constantly switches between flying and pointing, and knowing which one you are in explains most early confusion.

Mode Mouse does Toggle
Freecam Looks around —
Cursor Clicks the interface and the world Left Alt

Right-click also hides the cursor and returns you to looking around. You will use Alt constantly: fly to a spot, Alt, click a prop, Alt, fly on.

Flying

Key Action
W A S D Move
E / Q Up / down
Scroll Change speed
Left Shift Fly fast (hold)
Left Ctrl Fly slow (hold)

The speed you scroll to is shown in the HUD. Config.MaxFreecamDistance limits how far you may travel from your ped — the default is 80 m, and it exists so the editor stays a local tool rather than a teleport.

The panel

The catalogue panel is the main surface. It has two sides:

  • Available objects — the searchable catalogue. Filter by Object / Ped / Vehicle, browse by category, or search
  • Active objects — everything you have placed, as a live list. Click an entry to jump to and select it

Above the list there are also:

  • Layers — group your placements and toggle whole groups (see Layers and projects)
  • Deleted world props — everything the eraser has removed (see World eraser)
  • Categories — your own groupings and favourites. Star a model to keep it handy

The help overlay

Press H in game for the full key list, live and always current with your config. It is split into editing, freecam and selection sections, and it shows the current snap state (grid snap, vertex snap, surface align) while you hold the modifier.

Search

The catalogue search matches model names, but it also matches concepts — searching "chair" surfaces seating whose model names do not contain the word. The badge on the search field tells you when a smart match contributed results.

If you know the exact model name, use the manual entry field. It validates the model against the game before spawning, and tells you if the name is wrong or is of the wrong type (a vehicle name typed while the Ped filter is active, for example).

Leaving

Backspace closes the editor. If a prop is being edited it closes the gizmo first, saving that prop's current transform, so one press never loses work and a second press exits.

There is no "save map" step. Every action is written to the server as you make it, so the map is already saved before you leave.
